What makes us a carbon balanced printer
We take pride in being a carbon-balanced printing company, and are committed to conducting business with the environment at the forefront of our minds. In this blog, we’ve broken down the areas of our business that sets us apart as a carbon balanced printer.
2. Environmental Management System (EMS):
We operate an Environmental Management System compliant with ISO 14001:2015 standards. This system ensures that we adhere to the highest environmental standards, continually striving for improvement in our practices to minimise our impact on the environment.
1. Carbon Neutrality Through Offset Projects:
Streamlined Processes: The new site is designed with efficiency in mind. Every step, from design to printing and distribution, is streamlined to reduce lead times and ensure swift project delivery.
3. Sustainable Practices Throughout Operations:
From our choice of materials to our printing processes, sustainability is at the forefront of our decision-making. We use vegetable/vegetable oil-based inks and coatings on our cutting-edge, energy-efficient print machinery. Our in-house production is entirely paperless, managed through "The Hub," a web platform developed in-house by our growing IT team. Additionally, we've introduced chemical-free printing plates and self-purified water using reverse osmosis in our printing process, all within our facilities.
4. Renewable Energy Integration:
Our facility features a substantial solar array, currently supplying 20% of our total energy needs. We're committed to expanding this array onto the roof of our new extension, further increasing our reliance on solar energy. Additionally, we're proud to source 100% renewable energy from our supplier. Investments such as a £100k voltage optimiser have reduced our total energy usage by 7%, demonstrating our dedication to sustainable energy practices.
5. Ongoing Innovation and Improvement:
We're dedicated to ongoing improvements in our building, practices, and procedures. In the next five years, we plan to introduce new innovations and enhance existing practices, such as expanding our solar array and transitioning to even more renewable energy sources. Our operations director closely monitors chemical use to ensure minimal impact, and discussions are underway to further enhance our environmental initiatives.
